Will you miss Northwest?
Feb 5 2010, 10:55 AM EST
Northwest Airlines has officially disappeared as a separate entity, as it finally became fully integrated into Delta (see this week’s story). Our question: Will you miss Northwest? Or are you glad that its operations are now part of the Delta brand? Post your comments here.

I'm glad they are together as it gives me a chance to use my Skymiles on Northwest flights. I'm now searching for thier flights (NW) because I love the Airbus seats and layout, the level of service, quailty of meals and wines an air traveler recieves when flying with their excellent and professional crews. I'm left to wonder if the leadership at Delta will notice those trends (fuller NW flights) and react in a positive way.........

Yes. I have been very satisfied with Northwest over the years, even back to the Republic and Noth Central days. I hope that Delta will continue the fine service I have come to expect from Northwest.

I didn't think I would miss Northwest, but Delta makes Northwest look like a great airline. Especially when it comes to customer service and courtesy. It's too bad that Minnesotans are stuck with Delta.

Generally, I think Delta has made good improvements: better uniforms, investment in leather seats, a decent mileage program, and certainly a broad set of destinations all under one carrier. One significant disappointment is that it is possible to be a Platinum who books within a day or two of a flight and pays top $ and is still seated in the last row in a middle seat with no opportunity at a window or aisle. On NWA, even if only middle seats remained, a savvy frequent flyer would know to check in at the 24 hour mark and have a chance at getting a great seat. That is no longer possible with Delta as they do not reserve any seats. Well, their answer is that they do, but under control only of the gate agents. That would be great, except I don't get to a flight 3 hours in advance to ask the gate agent to give me a seat. I always show up near boarding time as I, like many others, am a busy guy. Delta: please bring back choice seating or reserve a few good seats until 24 hours before. Please.

Yes, I start missing them the moment the merge was announced. I hope Delta will be able to win the same loyalty NWA earned. I was a frequent NWA flyer since 1992.

The capability of finding a seat on-line 24 hrs ahead of a flight was a great feature. Do you find this valuable? |
